Port Orange maintains one of Florida’s most recognized and well-trained fire departments. The mission of the Port Orange Department of Fire and Rescue, according to the City of Port Orange is “to provide quality emergency services, healthcare, fire prevention guidance, and safety education in a progressive, professional and economical manner to the people we serve.” The people who serve on the Port Orange fire department are not only trained in areas of fire safety and rescue, but also in areas such as weapons of mass destruction, confined space rescue and emergencies, hazardous materials, and incident command systems. The Deputy Director of Fire and Rescue for the Port Orange Fire Department is Ken Burgman, B.A., EFO. The Fire Marshall is Christopher J. Weir, MBA, EFO. The training division for the department is located at 6701 Airport Road.
