Port Orange

As part of the Daytona Beach metro area, Port Orange has access to all this city has to offer, as well. Port Orange and South Daytona are part of the Volusia County School District, which has seven elementary, two middle schools and two high schools serving the two cities. The district rates second best among the 10 largest Florida school districts. For health care, the area has the Bert Fish Medical Center, a 116-bed, acute care medical center in downtown New Smyrna Beach. Bert Fish Medical Center offers innovative programs and services such as a Kidney Transplant Program, Heartburn Relief Center and state-of-the art diagnostic and imaging services, as well as an Oncology Center. The Halifax Medical Center is a 764-bed full service care hospital, opened in 1928. HMC offers a modern Heart Center, the only Trauma Center, Pediatric Emergency Department, Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Centers, and both a Comprehensive Stroke Center and Neuroscience Center. South Daytona is located at the East End of Interstate 4, and has direct access to Interstate 95. The Daytona Beach International Airport is within 10 minutes of both Daytona Beach and Port Orange. For public transportation, VOTRAN is the public transportation system operating in Volusia County, which has several routes throughout the Port Orange and South Daytona area.
Real estate in the Port Orange and South Daytona Area is quite varied. Homes may be purchased as low as $35,000 for a mobile home to a ranch for $350,000. A condo or townhome runs from $38,000 to $750,000 for a penthouse. A home on the ocean could range from $250,000 to several million. Riverfront, lakefront and canal front properties are available, as well as golf club communities, secured communities and a fly-in community.
